Jean-Charles Abbatucci is a biodynamic acolyte on the western coast of Corsica and an essential figure in the fabric of modern Corsican wine. His vineyard work is as meticulous as anyone in France, and he and his father, Antoine, are due an immense amount of credit for the resurgence of native grape varieties on the island. This Vermentinu is from 40-year-old vines grown in granitic soils just outside of Corsica’s capital, Ajaccio, on the western coast of the island. Hand harvested, vinified in stainless steel tanks with native yeast. Delicately floral on the nose, this resonant wine evolves on the palate, with citrus and slightly nutty notes emerging over savory hints of hay, and a long mineral finish reminiscent of Corsica's rocky coastline.
