The Details:

2023 Oltretorrente, Colli Tortonesi Derthona, Piedmont (Italy) Oltretorrente is one of the most compelling voices in the Colli Tortonesi, farming Timorasso on the steep, mineral-rich soils of the Tortona hills. Timorasso is a variety built for the long haul — slow to open, structured, and persistently mineral — and this bottling is a textbook expression of what makes it so captivating. It delivers a focused profile of white peach, lemon curd, and almond, underpinned by a distinctly stony, almost waxy texture and precise, linear acidity. There's real depth here without any sacrifice of tension — a wine that rewards patience as much as it does immediate attention. $27/btl ($24.30 with case discount)

2022 Palmento Costanzo, Etna Rosso, Mofete (Italy)
Palmento Costanzo farms the northern slopes of Etna the old way — certified organic, alberello-trained vines clinging to the volcanic boulder fields of Contrada Santo Spirito. Their Etna Rosso is 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio, fermented plot by plot with native yeasts before being brought together and aged twelve months split between stainless and large Slavonian oak. Enough structure to hold the wine together, not enough to get in the way. Think fine-grained tannins, savory precision, and that unmistakable mineral pull that makes you reach for another glass before you've finished thinking about the first one. $27/btl ($24.30 with case discount)
