Event
Saturday Tasting Series: February 7
Join us Saturday from 2–5 pm!
This Saturday, we are heading to the rugged hills of Tuscany to settle a friendly rivalry between two of Italy’s most iconic regions. We’re putting Sangiovese center stage, but not the heavy, oak-drenched versions you might expect.
We are tasting two "High-Altitude" masters who prioritize elegance and transparency over power. Join us as we explore the rocky limestone of Radda-in-Chianti and the soaring, wind-swept heights of Montalcino.
The Lineup:
🍷 Monteraponi, Chianti Classico (Radda, Tuscany) If there were a "Grand Cru" of Chianti Classico, it would be the sub-zone of Radda, and Monteraponi is its king. These vines sit in stony, limestone-rich soils that produce what many call the "Burgundy of Italy." This wine is translucent and ethereal. Expect high-toned aromas of violets, wild raspberries, and crushed stones. It is electric on the palate with a "crunchy" acidity and a salty, mineral finish that makes it dangerously easy to drink.
🍷 2021 Le Ragnaie, Rosso di Montalcino (Montalcino, Tuscany) Riccardo Campinoti’s vineyards are among the highest in all of Montalcino, reaching elevations that were once thought "too cold" to ripen grapes. Today, they produce the most elegant, balanced wines in the region. The 2021 Rosso is essentially a "Baby Brunello"—treated with the same reverence and aged in large Slavonian oak. It is deeper and more savory than the Chianti, offering notes of dark cherry, forest floor, and warm spices. It’s polished and structured, proving that Rosso di Montalcino can be just as serious as its older siblings.
Why you should come:
If you love wines that tell a story of where they were grown—rather than how they were made in a cellar—these two are for you.
