Saturday Tasting Series: March 21st
March 21, 2026Saturday Tasting Series: 2–5 PM 🍷
Stop by Manhattan Wine Company this Saturday for a free pour of two producers we absolutely love.
The Details:
2020 Golden Cluster, Willamette Valley, Coury, Old Vine Semillon — $29.99
Jeff Vejr of Golden Cluster acts as an archivist for Oregon's viticultural history, working to preserve some of the state's oldest and most historically significant plantings. Sourced from the David Hill Vineyard in the Tualatin Hills AVA—originally planted in 1966 by Willamette pioneer Charles Coury—this Semillon relies on deeply rooted, dry-farmed vines in windblown Laurelwood loess to articulate profound site transparency. The 2020 "Coury" rejects the simplistic, fruit-forward profile of typical New World whites; instead, it is defined by a deeply savory, textured mid-palate balanced by nervy natural acidity and a structural, waxy grip reminiscent of classic white Bordeaux.
2022 Château Marjosse, Bordeaux Rouge — $19.99
Château Marjosse sits in the Entre-Deux-Mers, owned by Pierre Lurton — the man who runs both Cheval Blanc and Yquem — which tells you something about his standards even at this price. This is a classic Merlot-dominant Bordeaux blend: dark plum, a little earth, smooth tannins, and the kind of easy drinkability that makes it dangerous to open on a Tuesday. Excellent value.
