Saturday Tasting Series: March 7th

March 7, 2026

Saturday Tasting Series: 2–5 PM 🍷

Join us this Saturday at Manhattan Wine Company for a free tasting featuring two classic French staples that over-deliver for the price. These selections are exactly what we look for in everyday drinkers: honest, well-made wines that lead with freshness and regional character—from the salty, granite-driven whites of the Western Loire to the approachable, clay-and-limestone reds of the Right Bank.

The Wines:

Domaine du Héron, 2023 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, "Le Nid" Sur Lie Vieilles Vignes The Gaborit family produces this quintessential Muscadet from old vines grown on the schist and gneiss soils of the Sèvre et Maine. Following tradition, the wine is aged on its lees (sur lie) through the winter, adding a light yeastiness and texture to the naturally lean profile of the Melon de Bourgogne grape. The 2023 is bright and straightforward, offering notes of green apple and citrus with the classic briny finish that makes it a perfect pairing for seafood or casual sipping. 12+ btls @ $21.99/btl ($19.79 with case discount)

Vignobles Despagne-Rapin, 2022 Maison Blanche, "Le Colombier de la Métairie," Montagne-Saint-Émilion This is a Merlot-dominant blend from the Despagne family, who focus on organic farming on the limestone-clay plateau of Montagne-Saint-Émilion. Unlike heavier, oak-driven Bordeaux, "Le Colombier" is made for earlier drinking, emphasizing fresh plum and red currant fruit. It is a medium-bodied, balanced red with just enough grip to be versatile at the dinner table while remaining approachable on its own. It’s a clean, no-nonsense expression of Right Bank terroir. 12+ btls @ $29.99/btl ($26.99 with case discount)
