2021 Viticola Mentridana, Mentrida, El Mentridano

Vitícola Mentridana is a project based in the D. O. Méntrida, where winemaker Curro Barreño builds upon established vineyards and family parcels to highlight the unique landscape southwest of Madrid. This wine is made from Garnacha vines planted 40 years ago in sandy, granitic soils at an elevation of 600 meters. In the glass, it shows bright notes of wild raspberry, cranberry, and a distinct ferrous mineral quality, all held together by a light-bodied and taut structure. The cool 2021 vintage contributed to the wine’s precise aromatics and energetic, expressive character.
