Enzo Pontoni’s Malvasia is the definitive outcome of high-density viticulture and microscopic yields in Friuli’s Colli Orientali, where vines are meticulously restricted to just one or two bunches each. Sourced from estate parcels on Eocene marl and sandstone flysch, known locally as *ponca*, the wine underwent barrel fermentation in French oak without malolactic conversion to preserve its structural precision and high-toned energy. The 2023 vintage was defined by a volatile growing season of spring rain and localized hailstorms, followed by a dry, ripening September that resulted in fruit with significant phenolic concentration and low must yields. This structural reality manifests as a wine of substantial mid-palate density and oily weight, framed by an architectural acidity and a distinctively saline grip. This release successfully integrates the ripeness of the late season with the sharp, persistent nerve characteristic of Miani's uncompromising technical approach.
