Koerner was founded by brothers Damon and Juno Koerner in the Clare Valley who decided to start making wine rather than simply selling the grapes off in bulk as their parents did. Their goal has always been to make wines that “reflect their place in the world” and believe the key is harvesting the fruit early and not being invasive in the winery. Koerner is known for not only working with varieties commonly found in Australia (see their impeccable Riesling and Cabernet) but also for their extremely good renditions of Mediterranean grapes. Mammolo (also known as Sciacarello in Corsica) tends to be fragrant and extremely elegant red wine. Koerner's is the only example we have seen from outside the Mediterranean basin.
