Austrian Blaufränkisch is a really special grape. Unlike many Blaufränkisch that are bold and powerful, Moric’s wines stand out for their elegance and finesse and remind me more of Pinot Noir than anything else. His basic “Burgenland” bottling offers a unique balance of elegance, complexity, and typicity of the Blaufränkisch grape, making it a highly sought-after wine and for me, a benchmark in the cellar. These age great, and since this wine comes from younger vines, it also shows well young. - Matt Tornabene
