Aurelien Suenen's wonderfully composed Champagnes manage to be both intellectually stimulating and irresistibly delicious. We have put them in the hands of Champagne obsessives and people who don’t think they have a taste for bubbles at all, and we always get the same enthusiastic response.
This bottling is sourced from a number of Suenen's plots in the Oiry commune, just to the east of Cramant. Aurelien is currently the only producer making a single village Oiry. More than 60% of the vines that make up this cuvee are facing north and don’t see the brunt of the day’s sun. As a result, this is a piercing, linear and incredibly refreshing example. It’s a bottle that always disappears entirely too quickly and a perfect wine to pair with delicate oysters or sashimi, but it’s equally as useful all by itself to kick off a great night.
