2005 Charles Joguet, Chinon, Clos du Chene Vert

The Domaine Charles Joguet "Clos du Chêne Vert" is a monopolar expression of Cabernet Franc, defined by a commitment to parcel-specific vinification and low-yield viticulture. Sited on a steep, south-west-facing slope in the heart of the Chinon commune, the vineyard consists of shallow silty-clay topsoil directly overlying Upper Turonian tuffeau limestone. The 2005 vintage in the Loire provided an exceptional growing season, characterized by warm, dry conditions that facilitated physiological maturity while cool nights preserved vital acidity and structural tension. The resulting wine is built on dense, fine-grained tannins and a firm mineral architecture, reflecting the profound influence of the limestone bedrock on this storied site.
