2007 Vieux Chateau Certan, Pomerol

Vieux Château Certan is one of the oldest estates in Pomerol, with a history dating back to the mid-1700s and under the steady management of the Thienpont family since 1924. The 14-hectare single-block vineyard is planted in clay, gravel, and sand soils, with vines averaging 50 years of age. This wine is made from 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc, producing a refined profile defined by notes of blackberry, earthy undergrowth, and a subtle hint of spice. The 2007 vintage yielded a softer, more approachable character, resulting in a balanced structure with smooth, fine-grained tannins. It is currently fully mature and ready to enjoy, offering a clear, elegant expression of its specific terroir.
