Domaine du Collier was established in 1999 by Antoine Foucault and Caroline Boireau in the commune of Brézé, where Antoine applies organic farming practices learned during his tenure at the legendary Clos Rougeard. The wine is made from Cabernet Franc grown in the La Ripaille vineyard, where 30- to 60-year-old vines root deep into the area's characteristic limestone and tuffeau soils.
In the glass, it shows evolved notes of dried red fruit, earthy mushroom, and tobacco leaf, supported by a medium-bodied texture and refined acidity. The 2008 vintage in the Loire provided a necessary late-season warmth that resulted in a structured, classic profile with notable mineral depth.
This is a bottle built for the cellar that now offers a sophisticated, savory drinking experience for those who appreciate the nuanced aging of Loire reds.
