Nicole Moncuit is one of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger's most important growers, farming some of the village's most coveted ground without the name recognition she deserves. The Pierre Moncuit Cuvée comes from Les Chétillons, a lieu-dit within Le Mesnil whose chalk soils and old vines — approaching a century in age — are responsible for some of the most mineral-driven Champagne being made anywhere in the region. The fruit is vinified in stainless steel with full malolactic conversion, a deliberate choice to let the site speak rather than the process.

The 2008 vintage is one of the great Champagne years of the modern era — a long, cool growing season that built extraordinary acid retention and structural precision, with enough late-season warmth to bring the fruit to full physiological ripeness. This bottle spent fifteen years on its lees before disgorgement, finished with a dosage of just 3.5 g/l that lets the wine's natural tension do the work. What emerges is Champagne of genuine depth and architectural clarity — saline, focused, and driven by the kind of dry extract that only comes from very old vines in a very great site. At this age it is hitting its stride, but there is no urgency. This will continue to develop for years.
