2013 Dal Forno Romano, Amarone della Valpolicella, Monte Lodoletta

Dal Forno Romano is a family-operated estate located in the Val d'Illasi of the Veneto region, where the family has been tending their vineyards for four generations. This wine is made from a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta, and Croatina grapes grown in alluvial soils of gravel, silt, and clay at 1,000 feet above sea level. In the glass, it presents dark, concentrated notes of black cherry, dark chocolate, and toasted espresso with a full-bodied, structured, and velvety texture. The 2013 vintage benefited from a balanced, extended growing season without the extreme heat spikes of previous years, resulting in a wine that is graceful and focused. It is built for the cellar and will continue to develop complexity over the coming decades.
