Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona is located in the village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the southeastern reaches of Montalcino, an estate with 17th-century origins that rose to prominence after the Bianchini family assumed stewardship in 1985. This Riserva is made from a selection of the oldest vines in the iron-rich Pianrosso vineyard, which sits on Eocene-period marl soil at an altitude of 240 to 360 meters. In the glass, the wine offers deep aromas of cherry, leather, and forest floor, supported by a structured, full-bodied texture and firm, polished tannins. The 2015 vintage provided a warm, favorable growing season that yielded impressive fruit concentration and freshness, defining this wine’s vibrant profile. Built for the cellar but showing elegance now, it is a well-balanced bottle that rewards patient decanting.
