2015 Domaine de Bellevue (Jerome Bretaudeau), Muscadet, Gaia Cuvee Ovoide

Jérôme Bretaudeau established Domaine de Bellevue in 2001 in the village of Gétigné, where he has since become a leading voice in the Muscadet appellation by farming his vineyards organically and biodynamically. This wine is made from Melon de Bourgogne vines planted in the 1960s, which grow in sandy, silty topsoil over volcanic gabbro bedrock. In the glass, it shows a saline and mineral-driven character with distinct notes of citrus peel, green almond, and light smoke, all tied together by a precise, textural structure from aging in concrete egg-shaped tanks. The 2015 vintage in the Loire provided a warm, stable growing season that yielded ripe fruit while retaining the necessary acidity to keep the wine balanced and focused. This cuvée is ready to enjoy tonight, offering a grounded and transparent expression of its unique volcanic terroir.
