2016 Gaja, Barolo, Sperss

The Gaja estate has been a fixture of the Piedmont region since its founding in 1859, currently managed by the fifth generation of the family. This wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grown in the Sperss vineyard, a seven-hectare site in Serralunga d'Alba characterized by compact clay and limestone soils. In the glass, the 2016 vintage presents a refined profile featuring dried cherry, strawberry, smoke, and spice, supported by a structured, firm texture. The 2016 growing season provided a balance of intensity and focus that defines this release. Built for the cellar, this wine offers notable longevity and will continue to evolve for decades.
