2016 Groth, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Founded in 1982 by Dennis and Judy Groth, Groth Vineyards & Winery is a family-owned estate located in the heart of Oakville, a region they helped establish as a premier site for high-quality production. The fruit for this bottling is grown on a specific 28-acre band of the estate characterized by soils with a high concentration of chert, a sedimentary rock that provides unique mineral tension to the 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot blend. In the glass, the wine displays a focused profile of cassis, black cherry, and savory notes of anise and tobacco, all supported by a firm, structured texture. The 2016 growing season offered steady, moderate temperatures that allowed for consistent ripening, resulting in excellent flavor maturity and balanced acidity. This bottle is currently showing its potential and is well-suited for enjoyment now or further development in the cellar.
