2016 Guado Al Tasso, Bolgheri Rosso

Tenuta Guado al Tasso, a historic estate owned by the Antinori family, is situated in the Bolgheri appellation where winemaking roots date back to the 1600s. The vineyards occupy the "Bolgheri Amphitheater," a coastal plain featuring rocky, calcareous, and sandy-clay soils, and this wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. In the glass, it reveals notes of black-skinned fruit, cedar, and dried herbs with a polished, full-bodied structure and fine-grained tannins. The 2016 vintage provided a mild, steady growing season that contributed to the wine’s notable freshness and elegant, balanced profile. This bottle is an excellent candidate for the cellar but has reached a stage where it is ready to enjoy tonight with proper aeration.
