2016 Isole e Olena, Toscana Rosso, Cepparello

Isole e Olena is located in the western sector of Chianti Classico, where the De Marchi family combined two historic estates into one in the 1950s. This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese grown on southwest-facing slopes at an altitude of 400 meters, where the vines root into galestro, a schistous clay soil. It presents a precise profile of black cherry, cedar, and tobacco, framed by a firm, silky structure and a powdery, tactile finish. The 2016 vintage provided significant diurnal temperature variation, which resulted in highly defined aromatics and balanced acidity. With its depth and structural integrity, this wine is built for the cellar and will continue to evolve over the next two decades.
