Tenuta San Guido, located in the coastal Bolgheri region of Tuscany, traces its origins to the 1940s when Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta began planting vineyards on his estate. These vines are situated on complex, stony soils—from which the wine derives its name—and are made from a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. In the glass, this wine shows deep fruit notes of blackberry and cherry, complemented by nuances of graphite and herbs, all held together by a structured, persistent tannic backbone. The 2016 vintage benefited from a long, stable growing season with warm days and cooling sea breezes, which provided the fruit with both concentration and distinct, fresh acidity. This wine is built for the cellar, offering significant potential for further development over the coming decades.
