Château Potensac is a historic estate located on the plateau of Ordonnac in the northern Médoc, owned for generations by the Delon family, who are also responsible for the renowned Léoville Las Cases. The vineyards are planted on unique gravelly-clay soils over a limestone subsoil, and this wine is made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. In the glass, it displays bright notes of black currant, dark cherry, and a hint of pencil lead, supported by a firm, fine-grained tannic structure. The 2017 vintage was characterized by an early, balanced growing season that allowed the fruit to reach full maturity while maintaining a distinct, fresh energy. This is a grounded, classic Bordeaux that offers immediate accessibility and will continue to drink well for several years.
