Domaine des Comtes Lafon's commitment to biodynamic viticulture, fully embraced since 1998, underpins the character of their wines, with vineyard work and harvest meticulously performed by hand. The monopole Meursault Clos de la Barre, a 2.12-hectare parcel situated behind the domaine, is defined by its east-facing aspect, shallow clay soils, and underlying hard limestone substrate, contributing inherent minerality. In 2017, a warm and steady growing season, coupled with Lafon’s whole-cluster pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation, and aging in used oak, resulted in optimal physiological ripeness while preserving vital acidity. This approach yields a Chardonnay of significant textural density and energy, marked by a precise mineral backbone and a balanced, mouth-watering tension that speaks directly to its terroir and the vintage's inherent freshness.
