2017 Ferme de la Sansonniere (Mark Angeli), La Lune Blanc VdF

Mark Angeli established Ferme de la Sansonnière in 1990 near Anjou, pioneering biodynamic farming in the region after transitioning from a career in stonemasonry. The vineyard parcels are planted with Chenin Blanc in soils composed of schist, clay, and sand, with many vines reaching approximately 40 years of age. In the glass, this wine exhibits a deep golden color and delivers notes of yellow plum, melon, and honeysuckle, supported by a rich, textured mouthfeel and a lively structural acidity. The 2017 vintage was shaped by challenging spring frosts that significantly reduced yields, resulting in fruit with concentrated flavors and high levels of ripeness. This bottle offers excellent balance and is ready to enjoy tonight, though its depth makes it a compelling candidate for further cellar aging.
