2017 Mongeard Mugneret, Richebourg Grand Cru

Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret cultivates its Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir parcels in Vosne-Romanée with meticulous vineyard care, employing lutte raisonnée and precise yield management through Guyot pruning and green harvest. Their winemaking approach for this Grand Cru includes a cool pre-fermentation maceration and the inclusion of approximately one-third whole clusters, followed by fermentation in vats and 18-22 months of aging in 60-70% new French oak. The complex clay and limestone soils of Richebourg, integral to its depth, were influenced by the consistent 2017 growing season, which delivered a warm summer and an early, judicious harvest.
