Tenuta San Guido, located in the coastal Bolgheri region of Tuscany, traces its lineage to the 1940s when the Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta first introduced Bordeaux-style viticulture to the estate. The wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, sourced from vineyards situated at altitudes between 80 and 400 meters where the soil composition is primarily limestone and gravel. In the glass, it presents notes of ripe cassis, cedar, and dry earth, backed by a firm, structured tannic backbone. While the 2017 growing season was characterized by notable heat and limited rainfall, the estate’s maritime-influenced microclimate preserved the necessary acidity to maintain balance and precision. This vintage offers an approachable, concentrated profile that is well-suited for current enjoyment or further aging in the cellar.
