2018 00 Wines, Chardonnay, Chehalem Mountains

Founded by Chris and Kathryn Hermann in 2015, 00 Wines focuses on producing cool-climate expressions in the Willamette Valley using methods inspired by Burgundian traditions. This Chardonnay is made from old Wente clone vines originally planted half a century ago in the marine sedimentary soils of the Chehalem Mountains. The wine shows a layered profile of ripe orchard fruit, buttery pie crust, and a distinct note of salted caramel, all held together by a structured, persistent texture. The 2018 vintage provided warm, dry conditions without extreme heat, which resulted in excellent concentration and generous fruit intensity while maintaining necessary balance.
