The 2018 Bond Melbury bottling originates from a seven-acre hillside vineyard located east of Rutherford, where ancient sedimentary soils with compressed clay and humus, coupled with a south-southeasterly exposure overlooking Lake Hennessey, inherently lend elegance to primarily Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Bond's dedicated vineyard team meticulously manages these specific parcels, allowing for a precise translation of this terroir through their minimal intervention winemaking philosophy. The 2018 Napa Valley growing season, characterized by moderate temperatures and an extended, unhurried harvest, facilitated a slow and optimal phenolic ripening.
