Under Director of Winemaking Kathryn Carothers and vineyard manager David Abreu, Bryant Family Vineyard fully transitioned to biodynamic farming with the 2018 vintage, utilizing a rigorous micro-harvesting strategy of over 100 individual picks to ensure precise physiological maturity across their 13-acre estate. The vineyard is situated on the west-facing slopes of Pritchard Hill, where fractured volcanic Sobrante loam and elevations reaching 1,200 feet are moderated by cooling breezes from Lake Hennessey. The 2018 growing season provided a long, temperate ripening period devoid of heat spikes, allowing for deep phenolic development and the preservation of high natural acidity. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a sophisticated architecture of fine-grained tannins and a tightly knit mid-palate density that reflects the site’s iron-rich geology. In the magnum format, the wine’s structural tension and vibrant freshness are positioned for an exceptionally slow, multi-decade evolution.
