2018 Coudert, Fleurie, Clos de la Roilette Cuvee Tardive

The Coudert family has stewarded the Clos de la Roilette estate in the Fleurie appellation since 1967, maintaining traditional farming practices across their vines. This wine is made from Gamay sourced exclusively from the estate’s oldest vines, some reaching 80 years of age, which are rooted in rare, manganese-rich clay soils bordering the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. In the glass, it shows concentrated flavors of black cherry and cassis, underpinned by a distinct earthy minerality and a firm, structured texture. The 2018 vintage provided a favorable growing season that yielded ripe, healthy fruit, resulting in a deeper, more powerful expression of the site. This bottling offers notable longevity and is well-suited for the cellar, providing a serious drinking experience that evolves steadily over time.
