2018 Le Piane, Boca, Antonio Cerri

The “Antonio Cerri” is more than just the flagship wine of Le Piane; it is a direct link to one of Alto Piemonte’s last great traditionalists. When Christoph purchased Antonio Cerri’s tiny, old-vine parcels decades ago, he didn’t just preserve pre-phylloxera plant material—he preserved an entire philosophy of farming and winemaking. That legacy is reflected not only in the character of the wine, but in the way it is made: natural fermentation with long maceration (30–40 days), five full years of aging in large oak botti, and bottling without fining or filtration. The 2018 reflects that heritage beautifully: Nebbiolo in its most alpine register—deep, savory, lifted, and tensile—carried by the subtle power and nuance that only old vines can deliver.
