Château de Bel-Air has been recognized as a top producer in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation since at least 1922, and it is currently managed by Michel de Laet Derache, who acquired the estate in 2011. The 15-hectare vineyard is planted on quaternary gravel soils with layers of iron-rich clay, featuring vines that average nearly 40 years of age and are made from a blend of 73% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. In the glass, the wine offers clear notes of red berries, plum, and fresh herbs, defined by a medium-bodied texture and firm, powdery tannins. The 2019 vintage benefited from a warm, arid summer and a successful September, which helped the fruit reach optimal ripeness while maintaining a distinct, lively freshness. This wine provides a balanced, accessible profile that is ready to enjoy now but possesses the structure to hold for several more years in the cellar.
