2019 Clos des Plantes (Olivier Lejeune), Poiesis Blanc VdF

Olivier Lejeune established Clos des Plantes in the Anjou region of the Loire Valley in 2017, taking over neglected parcels on the famed Montbenault hill that he revitalized through rigorous, manual labor. This wine is made from Chenin Blanc vines grown in soils composed of schist, quartz, and volcanic rock. In the glass, it shows clear notes of white fruit like pear and peach, balanced by a distinct mineral quality and a structured, lively texture. The 2019 vintage provided a warm growing season that helped flesh out the fruit profile while maintaining the taut acidity characteristic of this terroir. This is a highly expressive white that is ready to enjoy now but has the depth to evolve further in the cellar.
