2019 Dominio Aguila, Ribera del Duero, Reserva

Jorge Monzón and Isabel Rodero guide Dominio del Águila's certified organic viticulture in La Aguilera, dry-farming a diverse field blend predominantly of Tempranillo from vines, many over a century old, situated at an average of 880 meters on red clay and limestone soils. The Reserva is co-fermented without destemming in concrete tanks using native yeasts, then aged for 35 months in old French barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2019 vintage in Ribera del Duero, characterized by a dry growing season with well-timed late-season rains, produced grapes of exceptional health and concentration. This led to a wine with a precise balance of acidity and polished, dense tannins, reflecting the vintage's phenolic ripeness. The resulting architectural density and structural integrity promise significant aging capability for this Ribera del Duero.
