2019 Ferme de la Sansonniere (Mark Angeli), Coteau du Houet Blanc VdF

Mark Angeli established La Ferme de la Sansonnière in the village of Thouarcé in 1989, operating this Loire Valley estate as a biodynamic farm with a focus on polyculture and low-intervention practices. This wine is made from Chenin Blanc grown on carboniferous schist soils, a site once historically associated with the Bonnezeaux appellation. In the glass, it shows rich, concentrated flavors of pear and quince with a textured, mouth-coating weight balanced by vibrant acidity. The 2019 vintage provided the concentration necessary to produce this expressive, off-dry style, which carries significant extract from the low-yielding vines. It is ready to enjoy now but possesses the structural integrity to develop further in the cellar over the next several years.
