2020 Vini Belluzzo, Aurum

The 2020 Vini Belluzzo Aurum is an exquisite dessert wine crafted from botrytized Verduzzo Friulano grapes, a varietal indigenous to Italy's Friuli Venezia Giulia region.  Sourced from the high-diurnal-range vineyards of Tarcento in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, its character is profoundly shaped by the region's "ponca" marl and sandstone soils and the 2020 vintage, which delivered optimal conditions for slow, concentrated ripening and noble rot development.Third-generation winemaker Luca Belluzzo upholds a philosophy of minimal intervention and low yields, meticulously hand-harvesting late-ripening Verduzzo Friulano, which then undergoes traditional appassimento for enhanced complexity.  This results in a wine of remarkable depth and aromatic intensity, showcasing the unique potential of Verduzzo Friulano from this challenging, high-altitude terroir.
