2020 Cims Porrera, Priorat, Vi Vila Porrera

Cims Porrera remains dedicated to the revitalization of the Porrera sub-region’s rugged landscape, utilizing dry-farming and manual viticulture to preserve the identity of the village’s high-altitude plantings. The grapes are sourced from Carinyena and Garnatxa vines rooted in vertical llicorella (slate) slopes at elevations reaching 600 meters, where dramatic diurnal shifts dictate the potential for structural balance. The 2020 growing season—marked by a rainy spring and concentrated summer heat—benefited from Porrera’s cooler microclimate, which allowed for a slow physiological ripening that preserved critical acidity and phenolic tension. Winemaking involves separate vinification of varieties followed by 16 months of aging in a combination of cement, foudres, and French oak, with an additional three-year bottle rest to fully integrate its structural components. The resulting wine is defined by a dense, mineral-driven mid-palate and fine-grained tannins that provide a persistent, architectural frame.
