2020 Domaine Louis Jadot, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru - Magnum

Domaine Louis Jadot's commitment to sustainable viticulture, with their estate parcels now organically certified, guides their precise approach within Clos de Vougeot. Situated in the Côte de Nuits, their centrally located Grand Cru parcel benefits from the appellation's east-facing slopes and diverse limestone-clay soils, dictating the wine's foundational structure. Hand-harvested Pinot Noir undergoes a traditional fermentation process, followed by an extended 18-month maturation in barrels from their own Cadus cooperage, with a judicious use of new oak to respect terroir expression. The 2020 vintage, characterized by an early, warm growing season, delivered physiologically ripe fruit with excellent density, balanced by notable tartaric acidity and a low pH. This resulted in a Clos de Vougeot of formidable structure, exhibiting integrated yet firm tannins and considerable age-worthiness.
