Dominio del Águila is located in the village of La Aguilera, where Jorge Monzón and Isabel Rodero have spent years identifying and protecting ancient, organic vineyard plots that were often overlooked in favor of more modern clones. This wine is made from a field blend of mostly Tempranillo, alongside smaller portions of Garnacha, Bobal, and white Albillo, all harvested from vines aged 60 to over 100 years old rooted in sandy, clay-limestone soils. In the glass, it shows concentrated notes of black cherry, wild herbs, and a savory, mineral-driven finish, supported by a dense, silky texture and chalky tannins. The 2020 vintage provided excellent conditions for the estate, resulting in a balanced, expressive release that demonstrates remarkable clarity. While it is accessible now with a thorough decant, this is a structured wine built to age gracefully in the cellar for years to come.
