2020 Domaine de la Pepiere, Muscadet Sevre et Maine, Monnieres Saint Fiacre

This is the last Monnieres-Saint Fiacre release from the renowned Pepiere cellar. Pepiere is pretty much the gold standard for the lofty yet humble heights that Melon de Bourgogne can achieve in Muscadet. Monnières-Saint-Fiacre is a designated "Cru Communal" within the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation and was the first officially designated cru in Muscadet. The vines are planted in sandy limestone on gneiss soils. Pépière owns 3.35 hectares within the cru. The vines were planted in 1948, 1984 and 1991. These crus represent specific areas with distinct terroir that are recognized for producing Muscadet of superior quality. This is a classic oyster pairing wine and offers insane value, wonderful age-ability and tons of class. This wine is very open and giving and can also be a great cocktail wine. ’20 is the current release and a wine that would cruise in the cellar for at least a decade.
