2021 Baricci, Brunello di Montalcino, Montosoli

The Baricci estate has been family-run in Montalcino since 1955, when founder Nello Baricci became one of the original signatories of the Brunello Consorzio. This wine is made from Sangiovese grapes grown exclusively on their five hectares within the Montosoli cru, a site prized for its Pliocene marine-based soils composed of marl, quartz, and schist. In the glass, it shows clear notes of wild cherry, dried herbs, and earthy spice, supported by a firm, fine-grained tannic structure. The 2021 vintage provided ideal conditions with a warm, dry summer and cool nights that preserved the fruit’s freshness and concentration. This is a balanced, classic bottling that is ready to enjoy after a short decant or capable of rewarding several years in the cellar.
