Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve is situated in Prayssac, near Cahors, and was established in 1999 by Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve, who manage the estate using biodynamic farming practices. This wine is made from Malbec grown in vineyards located on the third terrace above the Lot river, featuring older vines planted in clay-limestone soils.
In the glass, it shows an intense, dark color with concentrated notes of blackberry, black cherry, and subtle hints of tobacco and earth, all framed by a robust, structured texture. The 2021 vintage provided a cool, temperate growing season, which resulted in a wine defined by fresh fruit profiles, lifted acidity, and a precise, balanced character.
This bottle offers excellent depth and is built to age, though its inherent balance makes it a compelling choice to enjoy now with some time in a decanter.
