2021 Clos de la Barthassade, Terrasses du Larzac, Les Ouvrees

Hélène and Guillaume Baron of Clos de la Barthassade are masters of low-intervention winemaking. They let the vineyard speak for itself—using native yeasts, gravity flow, and minimal sulfur to capture the true essence of their terroir. Sourced from the rocky limestone terraces of Montpeyroux and Jonquières, this blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache is truly special. The cooler 2021 vintage was a blessing, allowing the grapes to ripen fully while maintaining a vibrant, mouth-watering energy. After 22 months of aging in a mix of oak barrels and concrete eggs, the resulting wine balances deep, concentrated fruit with incredibly fine-grained tannins and a bright, focused finish.
