2021 Domaine de Bellevue (Jerome Bretaudeau), Muscadet, Gaia Cuvee Ovoide

Jérôme Bretaudeau established Domaine de Bellevue in 2001 in Gétigné, where he now manages 15 hectares of vineyards using certified organic and biodynamic farming practices. This specific wine is made from Melon de Bourgogne grapes harvested from vines planted in the 1960s, which grow in sandy and silty soils over a foundation of volcanic gabbro rock. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine is aged in ovoid concrete tanks to create a textural, mineral-forward profile with distinct notes of citrus peel, green almond, and saline oyster shell. The 2021 vintage brought cool, damp weather that preserved the acidity and aromatic purity of the grapes, resulting in a tense, precise structure. It is a balanced, expressive wine that is ready to enjoy now but possesses the acidity to develop further in the cellar.
