2021 Finca Sandoval, Manchuela, El Fundamentalista

Under the stewardship of Javi Revert, Finca Sandoval has transitioned toward a high-altitude viticultural model that prioritizes organic farming and the preservation of Manchuela’s heritage field blends. El Fundamentalista is co-fermented with approximately 40% whole clusters and indigenous yeasts, followed by ten months of maturation in 1,000-liter clay tinajas to ensure the structural profile remains entirely transparent to its site. The fruit originates from 80-year-old vines in Ledaña, where limestone-rich soils and elevations reaching 1,000 meters provide the calcareous foundation essential for Bobal’s acid retention. The 2021 vintage was defined by a moderate ripening cycle that preserved exceptional verticality and nerve, resulting in a wine of notable mid-palate tension. This technical approach yields a medium-bodied architecture characterized by fine-grained, chalky tannins and a rugged, mineral-driven finish typical of the region's skeletal soils.
