2021 Proprieta Sperino, Coste della Sesia, Rosso Uvaggio

Luca De Marchi revived his family’s historic estate in Lessona, returning attention to a corner of Alto Piemonte once known for elegant, long-lived Nebbiolo. The vineyards sit on ancient marine sands mixed with volcanic material, soils that tend to give the wines a lighter color and a distinctly aromatic profile.

Uvaggio is the estate’s field blend of Nebbiolo with smaller portions of Vespolina and Croatina, a traditional mix in the hills around Lessona.

The 2021 vintage in northern Piedmont produced wines with clarity and freshness. Red berry fruit, dried herbs, and a subtle spice note from Vespolina, all carried by the lifted structure typical of Alto Piemonte.
