2021 Sottimano, Barbaresco, Fausoni

Founded in 1975 by Maggiore Sottimano, this family estate in Neive has built a reputation for its organic farming and minimalist approach across several of the region’s most significant vineyard sites. This Barbaresco is made from Nebbiolo grown in the Fausoni cru, where the vines, reaching up to 70 years in age, thrive in a unique combination of sandy and clay soils. In the glass, it reveals delicate aromas of dried roses, lavender, and citrus oils, underpinned by elegant, chalky tannins and a savory, linear structure. The 2021 vintage provided ideal conditions, with cool nights and sufficient water reserves that helped produce a wine of notable precision, depth, and intensity.
