2022 Azienda Agricola Monte Maletto, Carema, Sole e Roccia

Azienda Agricola Monte Maletto was established in 2015 by Gian Marco Viano to help restore the historical, steep-terraced vineyards of Carema in northern Piedmont. This wine is made from Nebbiolo grown on ancient, high-altitude pergolas rooted in acidic soils composed of sand, serpentine, and gneiss. In the glass, it displays bright black fruit, violet aromatics, and a distinct mineral quality of wet stones, all held together by a silky, refined structure. The 2022 vintage provided the balanced growing conditions necessary to maintain the signature tension and freshness expected from this challenging alpine site. With its light, focused character and firm acidity, this bottle is ready to enjoy tonight but possesses the structural integrity to benefit from a few years in the cellar.
