2022 Detert Family Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

There's a lot of history here as the Detert family have been in CA since the early 1900’s. Their ancestors literally ‘struck gold’ from gold mining operations and ended up purchasing cattle ranches all over California. They sold their 20,000 acre Guenoc Ranch in Lake County and used the proceeds to purchase 50 acres of historic Tokalon vineyard, one of Napa’s ‘Grand Cru’ sites. For a long time, Detert was selling grapes to Robert Mondavi and the Charles Krug estate. Fast-forward a few generations, and in 2000 the great-grandsons produced the first commercial vintage of Detert in a restrained, classic stye. They only produce 200 to 300 cases of this per year. This stuff will age gracefully in the cellar for decades to come.
